Floor Massage: Traditional Thai Massage or Zen Shiatsu
For my Traditional Thai Massage, I combine Northern and Southern style Thai massage adjusting the sen (energy lines) of the body through acupressure, palming, and extensive stretching. Thai massage is often called “passive yoga” or "lazy man's yoga" and greatly assists in rebalancing the body and increasing flexibility. Traditional Thai massage is normally done fully clothed on a mat on the floor while wearing loose comfortable clothes, preferably natural fibers. Thai massage requires a minimum of 90 minutes.
Zen Shiatsu is a Japanese style of massage that treats the energy meridians of the body to unblock the flow of ki and help the body meridians and organs rebalance. Usually done fully clothed on a mat on the floor while wearing loose comfortable clothes, preferably natural fibers. Involves acupressure, palming, and stretching.
TABLE Massage: Deep tissue massage, Swedish massage, Integrated massage, Combination Thai Massage
Deep Tissue Massage: Either a deep Swedish or a more myofascial or myoskletal approach. Often focused on specific problem areas in the sub-layer of musculature and fascia, intended to increase flexibility, free adhesions, reduce chronic pain, and assist with injury prevention or rehabilitation. Usually starts and ends with Swedish relaxation techniques but involves deeper pressure, more friction, and focus on specific problem areas rather than the whole body. Can be done with or without oil. If you would like a thorough full body deep tissue massage focusing on more than 1 problem area, at least 90 minutes is needed and 2 hours is better.
Swedish: Relaxing oil-based treatment involving a combination of long gliding strokes, kneading, light to medium friction, and in some cases vibration or percussion. Increases circulation of blood and lymph, relaxes, and may assist with injury recovery and release of scar tissue adhesions.
Integrative Massage: Integration of two or more massage styles, often focusing on problem areas. You can specify what you want or simply ask for an integrative massage. I normally incorporate some shiatsu into nearly every massage and can easily incorporate some Thai Massage if desired. I can also incorporate flowing freeform work inspired by Esalen and LomiLomi. Generally done on a table, but integrative floor massage is also an option.
Combination Thai Massage: Thai oil massage with some integrated stretches, palming and presure point work from Thai Traditional Massage. I can vary the extent of use of oil or traditional techniques based on your preferences.
For oil based massage I use high quality Biotone Massage Creams, or Organic Coconut Oil, or I can use an oil or lotion that you supply if you prefer. I use a high quality American made massage table if you choose a table massage. Breast recess table available, and additional pillows for pregnancy massage available if requested in advance.
